FROM
PASTOR RICK WARREN
Author, The Purpose Driven Life
Hi! Maurice
I recently read the inspiring article about you in the Suffolk News-Herald. It's great to hear you are encouraging other believers to become servants of the Lord and find their purpose. I liked what you said about purpose will make you do crazy things...I challenge you- become a servant and watch great things happen in your life." I enjoy reading how you went to Iraq to help with pest control; and Gods purpose was bigger than you imagined. You ended up training Iraq boxers, specifically, one who became an Olympian!
What an awesome testimony of when we follow Gods purposes for our lives, he moves in unexpected and exciting ways.
I'd like you to have a personalized copy of The Purpose Driven Life as a gift from me. I hope it continues to inspire you to draw closer to the Lord. May God Bless you as you continue to lead an encourage you others to live out their purposes through him.
God Bless.

TERMITE'S DAD
Dear Son,
I did not have the
time the other day when I talked to you on the
phone, to really tell you how proud I am of
you. I wanted to have a long time with
you when you were in here on leave but things
just didn't work out where you and I could set
down and have a one on one talk.
Son, I guess I probably am the proudest father
in the world of his son and I really mean
this. After I read your letter the other
day, my heart was so happy and proud that I
thought it was going to jump out of my body.
I have already told ever one that if God
wanted to change Iraq, he sure could do it
through you because I know no other person
that puts his heart, mind and body into
everything he does like you do.
Son, I really mean it when I say I am proud to
think that I have a son that would take on the
challenge to change a whole country back to
where they could live like human beings.
You know, Termite, there aren't many people
that would have a love as strong as you have
for the Iraq people and if they did, there are
a very few that would try to do something
about it.
In your history on my mother's side, there was
a great general who fought in the Africa
Boer war who fought for the rights of the
people and on the Watkins side , they were
strong people that when they wanted
something, they went at it and didn't give up
until they got it. This has came out in
you, you are going to do great things .
Just stay with it and fight to the end.
Proud ? Yes I am,
Crying? yes I am, just to think that I
have a little part in what you are doing.
Well, I will close for now so aunt Betty can
mail this to you, she sure is a big help to
mother and I.
Keep your head high, your knees bent and go at
it. I am proud proud and a lot of love goes
with it. There are a lot of
fathers that would like to have a son like
you.
With all of my love
Your dad, Bill Watkins
FROM
MUHAWI, A FRIEND
(also termite's interpreter in Iraq, who was
also a leader of a tribe of over one million
Iraqis)
Dear Termite,
I am at Hilla now saying good-bye to
every body, and shall leave to Basrah maybe
tomorrow. Then I shall go to Baghdad to see the boxing Federation
and find if they need me or not. I doubt it, as I told you before. How you doing? how is
Sharla and the family? How is Najah is doing? I love you all. I wish I was with you
there, old man.
Well... everything has to an end but you still be my friend
for ever. love you and Sharla so much and hope will visit you in
America one day (who knows). Well, maybe the story of the film becomes real and life will
smile to us widely. be happy my friend and take care of yourself.
As Muhawi
is no longer with you , but his heart and feelings are always with you. God
bless you and your lovely family. Please keep in
touch always. Most of our friends already left Iraq, many new faces. Mike Gfeoller gave my a very good
recommendation letter to the new ambassador, wanting me to work in the
American consulate at Basrah. Of course this is great, if
happened and it will
happen. We find a way for it, as usual. Do you mind to tell Sharla that I
love her, please don't be jealous or mad I know you.....love you and miss you
so much.

FROM
KEVIN KELLY
Termite,
My
name is Kevin Kelly. I work with American
National and Ron Price. I was in Galveston
when I heard you give the best speech (filled
with words of wisdom/strength) that I have
heard in a very long time. Thank you for
sharing your story, your thoughts and your
heart with us.
I truly appreciated your story. Recently
I spoke at a men's group, connected with my
church and local businesses, sharing with the
group that "it's about time for men
to stand up and start acting like men!"
You said it much better than I did, and when
the words came out of your mouth, it was as if
God said, "Kevin you are on the
right road, keep it up!"
Recently
I heard a story about a woman that was being
raped, I think in Central Park, NY. 5-7 men
with cell phones took pictures allowing the
criminals to be caught and prosecuted. Most
people were happy with the story. My
heart sank when I heard this story (I have not
confirmed the story but did hear about it on
one of the news stations).
The press was happy
about technology solving a crime. I, like I
think you would have been, was appalled and
upset beyond all comprehension. If
true, why did these men just take
pictures? They should have dropped
the darn phones, jumped in and
tried to save her, no matter the
consequences!!
When did men stop being men?! If my
dad was alive and he found out that all I
have done was take a picture, well he would
have darn near killed me for not taking a
stand!
Anyway,
I just want to thank you for standing up,
standing tall and doing God's work in this world.
I look forward to seeing you again.
God's blessings and thanks to you and your
family.
Respectfully,
Kevin Kelly
